Unicorn IPO Outlook: Pivotal Software Files S-1

Pivotal Software, an enterprise PaaS platform filed their S-1 on March 23rd. Since Pivotal is essentially owned by Dell, there were rumors of Pivotal going public to pay down some of the Billions worth of debt that Dell owes. Not the case, as stated in their S-1 ” We do not intend to transfer any net proceeds we receive from this offering to Dell Technologies.” (pg. 51)

Pivotal Software was incorporated in Delaware in April 2013 (prior to that they were an LLC out of California). Since then, they have raised 3 rounds of funding, at staggering numbers and have a Post-Money Valuation of $2.77 Billion after the Series C round.
